The dance of light and water

I do not write poetry,
But sometimes, my pictures are poetic.

Mother Nature puts the elements together,
all I have to do is frame it with my camera,
and the world can see how beautiful it is here in the forest.

Light and shadow,
movement and reflection,
can't you just hear how it laughs on it's way downstream?

With light and shadow,
come color,
Red Georgia clay,
somehow paints the waters yellow,
in a South Carolina creek,

Water sparkles on it's way down the hill,

Then widens to a gentle flow,
shadows from the trees,
soft evening light,
my camera is ready.

I have a new friend. Her name is Josephine. She does not live here in the forest with us, but she does live with a good friend of mine so I get to see her quite often.
She likes the camera and seems ever so willing to pose.

As you can see from the view, she is a town cat. Right now she appears to be contemplating mayhem. Isn't she a pretty kitty?

Hope you are having a warm and lovely weekend.
Cheers,
Kat

A Beautiful Year (part 2)

I am continuing the series of photos from 2012 that I consider beautiful. Our weather is rather cold right now (for the South at least) so it is a great time to sort through pictures.

I know it is a bit of a cliche, but it is still true.
Beauty is all around us, sometimes in the simplest things.

There is a certain grace in the lines of older appliances. We had this Electrolux vacuum refurbished shortly after we got married and it still works like a charm (except on the stairs).

Reflections.

Not just cute (although he is that), but beautiful (and curious too).

I can't talk about beauty without mentioning this comfortable creature, Spontaneous the cat.
View through the trees, Battery Park, Charleston SC. Don't the trees just look like they are dancing?

 Tasty things to come.

He who makes me smile. My Sweet Husband does more to make my life beautiful than anyone or anything else (he is also quite easy on the eyes).

My warm weather oasis. Can't wait to get back out there with a lovely cup of tea. You can't see it, but there are two chairs, so my Sweetie can join me.

The road home.
What could be more beautiful than that.

 Cheers,
Kat

Walking on Horah Road in winter; southern seasons. Part 1.

We went for a walk on Horah Road and of course,
I took along my trusty Fuji.
Come along and see.

I took lots of pictures,
I will share the rest next time.
Cheers,
Kat

Forrest rambles.

We decided to go a little further afield for our walk.
The trusty VW Van provided transportation.
It likes to get out for a spin every now and then.
See, the gate is ajar, guess that means we are welcome.
Then we go down a little country road.
So peaceful.
Even a mud puddle can be pretty!
Look at all that red clay.
The puddle is occupied.
The occupant is shy, but thanks to the zoom button, photogenic none the less.
Haven't seen this path before,
wonder what is down there.
WOW!
We have camped in this area numerous times each summer since we moved here and we did not know this was here. This is a short walk from one of our favorite camp sites.
It really is as peaceful as it looks. All we could hear was birds and bugs.

Cheers,
Kat
